Rice as a phone saver can be misunderstood. Someone (who will go unnamed because I get in trouble when I talk about family members) tried the rice trick with a wet phone. It didn’t work, so she asked the family tech guy (me) for help.
ME: The rice trick takes some prep—
HER: Does it need to be fresh? We used some leftovers from ordering Chinese. I think maybe it had been in the fridge a week? Maybe?
Thanks for the laughs, Mark. Your conversation above with C.L. is priceless, too. 🤣
Thanks, Justin. 🤓
Thanks for the heads up on what not to do if the first scenario ever happens to me. If it does, I'll just go hug my hubby. XD
Perfect! 🤣 It is surprising, how often that happens. 😉
I smiled the whole way through reading this. All wonderful.
Thank you, David. That makes me smile. 🤓
I’m totally stuck on the challenge of cleaning up the kitchen from story problem #1!
What a nightmare that would be! 😬

ME: <pause> 😐
ME: Yes. It needs to be fresh. Yes.
🤣🤣🤣 "Pork Fried Rice will not work!" That trick is a little outdated, since most phones are water resistant now.
I never checked if it was plain rice or fried — there didn’t seem to be a point.
And I suspect that her phone was waterproof, since she announced some time later that it was working fine, it just needed to charge. 🤦♂️
🤣 Relatives.
I think I might need to spend some weekend time with you.
No rice, oil, or peanut butter.
That would be great, C.L. Too bad I will be out of town that weekend. 😉🤣
Well, if you come to Davidson, I'll be here...
I'll bring cookies and syrup. And rice. And potato chip. And...
Great! Change of plans - I'll be out of town that weekend!
🤣 I don't blame you.
