I don’t write traditional “drafts” when I write novels. I outline chapters extensively before writing them, including chunks of dialog. So they are almost “final draft” when I write them. I usually just have to clean them up a little.
I thought I would share the basic outline (mine is far more detailed) for the first part of the Captain Peanut Butter Storyline so you can get a sneak peek at it:
Captain Peanut Butter visits dying mother
Returns and sees The Jellyfish fleeing another ship.
Three pirate ships capture The Jellyfish wanting to capture Captain Peanut Butter
Captain Peanut Butter arranges to exchange himself for allowing his crew and ship to go free
Pirates plan to take Captain Peanut Butter back to Jamaica to hang. Which will earn Henry Jennings a pardon from The King of England (so he can retire to his plantation a rich man.) And a large amount of gold for the other two pirate crews (acting as mercenaries for Henry Jennings.)
French navy ships (returning from the Caribbean) encounter the pirate ships and pursue them.
Pirates blow up one of their ships to make their escape on the other two. Captain Peanut Butter uses the ship transfer as an opportunity to jump overboard.
One French navy ship crashes into the exploding ship. The other two are forced to swerve. The navy ships stop to rescue the crew of their sinking ship and Captain Peanut Butter. They return Captain Peanut Butter to France.
The King learns of Captain Peanut Butter’s capture and has him brought to Versaille.
What do you think? Suggestions?
