Wow, Mark! Thanks for reminding me and sharing that its back on again. It was one of my favorites as well, and probably the first place I ever saw George Carlin and Richard Pryor. What a great memory!
I remember looking forward to seeing Halley's Comet in 1996...and according to the magazines we were looking at in the 60s, (Popular Science) we should've been using the Moon as a launch pad to Mars by now.
iPhones were Star Trek stuff when I was a kid. How quickly times change. I am sure we can't even imagine the things there will be in 50 years. Not that I will see it. 🤣
This is just fabulous, Mark! Thanks so much for introducing me to this show and to jump-starting us with wonderful clips. Gladys Knight! Yeoow! I see a binge watch in my future.... oh noooo. Dishes piling up in the sink, weeds growing in the garden....
🤣 It is super addictive. Such great music! And seeing the artist young and in their prime is a real treat. I would say The Midnight Special is my all-time favorite TV show followed closely by The Twilight Zone.
I like them so much, I think I may start "reviewing" (but not rating) each episode. Maybe once a week.
Well, you brought back some fun memories! I watched the Midnight Special quite a bit, but perhaps not as much as you did! I do vividly recall staying up after SNL in the early years to watch Second City into the wee hours.
I rarely missed it. It was The Midnight Special that convinced NBC that late night programming was viable, which led to Tom Snyder and Saturday Night Live. I believe Second City replaced The Midnight Special when it went off the air in the early 80s. Then MTV took over. Sort of. It wasn't live.
Of course, we have unlimited TV now. But as a music fan in the 70s, nothing beat The Midnight Special.
Loved, loved, loved The Midnight Special when I was a teen. I watched a few just now from your links. Thanks for the memories!
My pleasure, Gayla. I am glad it brought back memories. 🤓

Yeah, the whole episodes are way better than just single song clips. Lots of great memories. 🤓
This is great, Mark. Thanks for bringing my attention to this.
But, only six minutes of Ravi? That's not even an intro for him. (But I get it.)
I think it was longer, I was just guessing. It took a lot of fast-forwarding. 🤣
I used to watch that show every weekend, with my mother! But wow, 50 years ago!? How the Hell did that happen so quickly?
I know! I remember thinking "The year 2000. That is so far away. People will probably be living on the Moon by then." 🤣

Yup. The space program fizzled after Apollo.
Great stuff! I remember that show! It wasn’t often that I was up that late though.
I did usually sleep in on Saturdays after being up that late. 🤣 But it was worth it.
Now you can watch it at your leisure.
The magic of YouTube! My 13 year old self would have never guessed I’d be watching it on a tv in the palm of my hand!
