Hi Mark, when I read the following "“Thank you, Captain,” we both said." it felt a bit odd. Not sure why exactly. Perhaps I was expecting something like "we said in unison" or "we chorused". I don't know - I feel like I may be too picky. It just stood out to me. What do you think?

It is one of those difficult things in writing, when two or more people are responding almost identical things at nearly the same time. I didn’t imagine them saying the same thing in unison. And I don’t think Elise would say “we chorused.” And writing out

“Thank you, Captain,” I said.

“Thank you,” Maria said.

was any better, so I wrote what I did.

Perhaps I should change it to just

“Thank you, Captain,” I said.

and not include Maria.

This has been an issue for me before. It is just an awkward thing to write. 😬
