No doubt. They were taking 10% of the cargo from the ships they raided as pirates, so that didn't change. Except they aren't giving most of it away and getting gold instead (IF Congress honors its contract, which we know isn't always the case.) The Continental Army gets all the cargo plus a ship for 10% of its cargo value, so it is a good deal for both. The crew should be able to afford to buy land at the year's end, but why not have it thrown in for free if you can get it?
