I really like “Guitarin’ with Starlin” — but I’m the guy who titled a series of chats with my wife Deb “Chats with Deb,” so you should listen to the other nice folks. 😐

I have two votes for Guitarin’ With Starlin (plus me), so it may be the winner. Plus, "Guitarin'" isn't really a word but it makes sense, so I like that. 🤣

Some words are in no dictionary, but people still use them and know what they mean!

I was going to use “irregardless” as an example, but somebody went and added it to the dictionary. 🙄

I always think of Steve Miller's song The Joker where he sings:

"Some people call me Maurice, / Cause I speak of the Pompatus of love.”

When I heard that song as a teen, I wondered what pompatus meant. Later, the story went, that it was a made-up word that Steve Miller coined to fit the song. But recently, people are saying it was actually Steve Miller mishearing another made-up word in a Doo Wop song, The Letter, which had the phrase "puppetutes of love." A made-up word.

So, it was either a made-up word or a mishearing of a made-up word. Either way, very cool.

You've already established a solid following with, Mark Starlin Writes!

Add the new element, "Mark Starlin Writes Music!"

Your audience will easily transition from your original to the secondary format.

Plus, plus, I'm still waiting for my Mark Starlin Presidential Raincoat.

Interesting idea. I like it better than Mark Starlin Makes Music! But it seems too specific, like it is about songwriting.

Well, had madness not swept the nation, and I had won the election, I would have released a Presidential Poncho. Instead we got a hard reign. 😉

I have to admit…Guitarin’ with Starlin has a fun ring to it. I like it. Also, I’d subscribe. I’m just beginning to learn guitar on my own, and some video tutorials would be right up my alley.

That's exciting, Mark! I will have to share the thought with my musician son, who probably has never heard of substack. It sounds like a great idea!

Most musicians went to Patreon, because there really wasn’t any other choice. But I am not a fan. It is based on rewards for tiers of support. I think the subscription model of Substack is better. Plus discovery is far better on Substack. So is the layout. I know some writers don’t like that there is video and live streaming on Substack, but it is good for musicians.

Not just Bread- Elvis Presley had a hit called "Guitar Man" (written by Jerry Reed) before then.

Indeed. I remember that. There are probably several songs with that title.
