Daniel sat on the grass beside the road, sweating profusely.
He looked left. There was nothing but farmland as far as the eye could see.
He looked right. More of the same.
He looked down at his bicycle chain. It was broken, but his spirit wasn’t.
He would ride again.
Based on the Fities by the Fire Prompt: Write a fifty-word story (fiction, poetry, or CNF) that uses the word broken or suggests/hints at something being broken.
Thanks for reading and responding. You make it fun.

Aww, poor Daniel. Good thing he had his repair kit along with him. He could have spent the night in a cornfield. Great choice of photo! Fifty-words was all you needed.
Great little story, Mark! These 50-word challenges are fun, aren't they?
