A Roundabout Theory
I came up with a theory of why people like donuts.
But there was a hole in it.

Terrence The Very Slow Turtle
Who loved to race
It is common knowledge in the woods that land turtles are slow. Yet, surprisingly, turtles love to race. And while a tortoise may occasionally upset an arrogant hare in a race, most hares can’t be bothered. So turtles usually race other turtles.
Terrence was a box turtle who was missing one rear leg. Terrence was very slow. Even tortoises refused to race Terrence and laughed when he challenged them. This made Terrence very sad. So one day, Terrence left his woodland home.
After many days, Terrence was about a half-mile from where he started. He saw a fantastic sight. A race track made in the sand, with funny-looking creatures racing. They had shells, but not like Terrence’s. Theirs were oddly shaped. And the creatures had strange heads with tentacles. And no feet at all! They were also very slow.
Terrence watched the race with great enthusiasm. A race is a race, after all. Eventually, one of the snails asked Terrence if he wanted to race. Terrence’s heart leaped. Terrence accepted the snail’s challenge and knew he had found his new home.
Tortoises are turtles, but not all turtles are tortoises. Tortoises live only on land and do not swim. Some turtles live mainly on land but can swim if necessary. Although they are usually not good swimmers. They are not tortoises. Many turtles live primarily in freshwater but come on land to sun themselves — usually on rocks or fallen trees. And some turtles live mainly in the sea but lay eggs on land. It’s confusing.

Of Me
Last week I kicked off my campaign to become a famous writer by posting five celebrity endorsements.*
*That I might have made up.
This week I am back with five more. That should be plenty to secure my position as a famous writer. Shouldn’t it?
Celebrity Endorsements of Mark Starlin 6-10:
I am sure you will agree with these celebrities that I am indeed worthy of being a famous writer. So be sure to spread the word on all your social media outlets and email lists that a whole bunch of A-List celebrities are huge fans of mine. And remind your followers that they should also follow me on Substack or risk being “not cool.” Unlike these celebrities who think I’m very cool.
Happy Monday. Thanks for reading and responding. You make it fun.
Mark
