A touching tribute to your father, Mark. He will never be far from you in spirit. The donut shop photo was special. I can see your father's likeness in you. Please accept my sincerest condolences.
You loved this man, and this was a truly heartfelt eulogy, Mark. He was a great guy and will be sorely missed. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. The school report was delightful, and I could actually smell the popcorn here at my table while reading.
Beautiful, Mark, thank you for sharing and my condolences on your loss. I'm a stone's throw from many of the locations you mentioned in Michigan. I drive through Ypsi on my way to work in Ann Arbor. It's a small world sometimes.
Mark, the pictures you shared capture the heart of your memories so beautifully—it’s amazing how a single photo can keep the past alive. Your tribute truly honors your dad, from Saturday popcorn nights to those simpler times with only three TV channels. Through your words and images, it feels like he’s still here, reminding us how powerful those moments with family really are.
That was beautiful Mark such great memories of your dad, keep those forever in your ❤️ And your right it’s not goodbye , it’s “see you later” Jeff and I are praying for you and your mom and family.
My condolences. What a lovely remembrance. Also, if you still live in Michigan, we're neighbours. It's only about 90 minutes to 2 hours to a border crossing, depending on which one you pick, from my home in southwestern Ontario. Long live The Friendly Giant!
Thanks, David. I live in North carolina now. But my Mom is still in Ypsilanti, Michigan, which is about a 30-minute drive from the border of Ontario via Detroit.
I am so sorry for your loss and am familiar with how you are feeling. But also, this may be one of my fave things you have written and shared ever. The pain will always be there, but lessens and becomes a part of who you are. You will cherish those memories, but they can also be sneaky; hitting you at the most inopportune times. My heart understands what your heart feels.
Losing a parent is tough. The good stories sustain us when we cannot call them and hear their voices. I am so sorry, Mark.

PS I remember popcorn nights too the BEST!
Thank you, Terey. We have "popcorn and movie nights" when my grandsons spend the night.
Carrying on the tradition I love that :)
Come to think of it when my grandsons were in Reno we did the same however they are more ice cream kinda guys :)
Prayers for the upward journey, Mark.
