I had just left a good job in the city. I was tired of working for the man every night and day. I headed south, hitching rides. Eventually, I ended up in Louisiana. I worked a few jobs but hated them and quit. I started getting a little worried about cash. Then I met a bunch of people on the river who were happy to give.
Oh, happy day!
Then I discovered a riverboat named Proud Mary. It was a floating casino!
Well, let me tell you. People on the river are happy to take, also. They took all the money the other river people gave me. And when the other river people found out I gambled away the money they gave me, they weren’t so happy to give anymore.
I ended up back in New Orleans pumping gas.
Not cool, river people. Not cool.
Happy Monday. Thanks for reading and responding. You make it fun.

This just cracked me up, Starlin. Not only did you usurp an entire song and make it your own, but it is just damned funny. Kim is right. You are a nut. ( And proud of it.). Thanks for helping me start the week on the right foot.

Your voice so often tickles my funny bone. 🤭
Thanks Mark!
Happy Monday!
