I have settled on Sunday as the day I will post new Elise chapters. If I get inspired and write more than one chapter in a week, I will send each chapter as a separate newsletter that Sunday. You can read them at your convenience.
I took a much-needed break from writing this week, not writing (or promoting) anything for a few days. I also got my acoustic trio back together for a practice. We haven’t gigged for a year and a half, thanks to COVID, but we fell right back into it. The writing break and making music with friends were both good for my state of mind.
I think I was in danger of burning out on my previous writing schedule. And I was spending way too much time thinking about promotion. After changing my publishing schedule, reconsidering the amount of promotion I am willing to do, and taking some time off, I feel like I want to write again.
All that to say, there is no new Elise chapter this week. But I have done some outlining, which is essential to the way I write novels. I put plot points, ideas, and even chunks of dialog in the Synopsis of each chapter as I outline. They serve as my roadmap when I write the chapters.
A new Elise (and Britpop) chapter should be here next week (from the Palace of Versailles.) I have the chapter basics mapped out; I just need to write it.
