Call Of The Wild
If you ever go hiking in Denali National Park
and find yourself face to face with an enraged grizzly bear,
can I have your car?
50-Word Story
She Came In Through The Bathroom Window/Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
She crept silently through the house and out the bathroom window.
Carefully not waking the dog.
Silent as a cat, she crossed the yard, then climbed into her balloon basket.
With a burner blast, her silent ascent began.
No ordinary cat burglar, she was Lucy in the sky with diamonds.
My goal was to create a story based on a Beatles song title. But different than the story in the song. In this case, two songs.
Quick Writing Tips
Using Pencils
I bought some of those mechanical pencils.
They totally ruined my electric pencil sharpener.
Be careful when buying pencils.

Charley Loves The Rain
Charley is a dog. An old dog who has put on a few too many pounds. He is also practically blind. His owner, Frank, loves him nonetheless. They go for walks every day. Charley loves to go on walks (although they are more like waddles.) Especially when it’s raining out.
Charley loves to feel the rain on his fur and splash through puddles. Frank doesn’t mind because it makes Charley happy. And Charley has brought Frank unmeasured happiness over the years.
One day Frank got a call and had to go out during their usual walk time.
“Sorry, pal. I have a work emergency I have to handle. I’ll see you when I get back.”
Charley put his head down. He was sad. A few minutes later, he wandered out into the living room, where he noticed that Frank had forgotten to close the back door before he left.
I shall go for a walk by myself, Charley thought.
He pushed on the screen door, and it popped open. Soon he was outside enjoying a leisurely stroll. Although his vision was poor, Charley knew the way to the park. He had walked there a thousand times.
Then it started to rain.
This day isn’t so bad, after all, Charley thought. As he was enjoying the feel of raindrops on his coat, he wandered onto some trolley tracks. Sadly, he couldn’t see the trolley quickly approaching behind him.
Just then, a pair of hands grabbed Charley and pulled him off the tracks.
It was Frank. The work emergency had been a false alarm and easily fixed. Frank felt guilty about not taking Charley on his walk and rushed home, only to find the back door open and Charley gone. He headed to the park and saw Charley on the tracks just in time.
“Charley, you old rascal. Don’t be in such a hurry to leave me. Come on, let’s finish our walk.”
