I had one dream. Playing professional baseball. Unfortunately, I struck out more often than I got hits.
After the game, Dad said, “We all have big dreams that don’t come true. That’s why you need smaller dreams also.”
He was right. Most of my smaller dreams came true. Thanks, Dad.
I wanted to run track in school, but the coach kept giving me the runaround.

Freshman high school football. B squad. I was in for 21 plays the entire season, most of those the last game when we were getting clobbered anyway.
I still have fond memories of that time, if “fond memories” = my right knee acting up (banged up badly in football *practice*) whenever the weather shifts. 😐 Yes, I hated sports.
I love this, Mark. It’s very relatable and so true. I was a baseball and football kid growing up and was lucky enough to play four more years of college football.
