Growing up in the early 1800s, Abraham Lincoln wanted to be a famous basketball player and even created an athletic shoe he called “Air Lincolns.”
Unfortunately, Lincoln, like many visionaries, was simply too far ahead of his time. Basketball wasn’t invented until 1891 (by Canadian physical education teacher James Naismith.)
So Lincoln settled for being President of the United States and did a pretty good job.
Later they named a car after him, even though he never learned to drive.
