Boy that Max is a good investigator and negotiator. A fun ending. Thanks, Mark.

They weren't really in direct competition- "I Love Lucy" aired on Mondays during its network run and "Dragnet" aired on Thursdays.

In the grand Hollywood tradition, I adjusted the showtimes and dates to make the story more interesting. This is pulp fiction, after all. I'll leave "Just the facts, Ma'am" to Dragnet, although Joe Friday never actually said those exact words on the show (beat ya to it! 🤣).

"I should have known Permutter would know the facts." - Joe Friday

"The guy is a walking encyclopedia." - Bill Gannon

Jack Webb was caught in his own web or dragnet. Either will do. Pun(s) intended, of course!
